Cowboys Christmas in July - July 13 It is a Monday in the middle of summer and football season is still a stones throw away, the NBA playoffs are yesterday’s news, and we are stuck without real baseball until Thursday. It is so bad that this afternoon DC’s Sports Talk 980 resorted to spending an hour talking about how the Redskins have had 16 kickers over the past 12 seasons. NFL Convicts and Michael Vick - June 30 I love dogs. I grew up with a Boxer named Ginger and currently have two Pugs, Emmet and Verna, that rule my house. So when Michael Vick was convicted of running a dog-fighting racket, I was just as angry as the next guy. But my anger was not just because of those poor pups that were abused for some random amusement. Rather, to me Vick’s conviction was symbolic of the crime culture that seems to permeate some professional sports. Continue reading
